This exhibit is a photographic glimpse into the archaeology of the College of William and Mary over the last 70 years. It highlights the central role the College, in collaboration with Colonial Williamsburg, played in the development of the field of archaeology, especially historical archaeology and cultural resources management. Over the course of history, archaeological methodology and focus of study have shifted in accordance with prevailing social, economic, and political views. What has remained constant is the dedication and contribution William and Mary faculty, staff, and students have made to archaeology. Come celebrate October as Virginia Archaeology Month with a visual narrative of our College's archaeology.
