John D. Johnson '92

John is Chief Compliance Counsel and Associate General Counsel at Amundi Pioneer, a Boston-based asset manager which is part of the global Amundi asset management group. Prior to joining Amundi Pioneer, John served as the head of general corporate and governance attorney for Federated Investors, Inc., a publicly traded asset manager. He has also worked in private practice at the law firms of Reed Smith LLP, K&L Gates, and McGuire Woods LLP. John received his Juris Doctor from the University of Virginia School of Law in 1995 where he served on the Articles Review Board of the Virginia Journal of International Law, and received a Bachelor of Arts in Classical Studies and History, cum laude, from William & Mary in 1992, where he was awarded the William Hogan Award for Excellence in Classical Studies. He also currently assists the University of North Carolina's Kenan-Flagler Undergraduate Business Program on a part-time basis with the admissions review process. John lives in Chapel Hill, North Carolina with his wife and five sons. He is active in youth sports, having coached both football and hockey, and currently is a youth hockey coach for high school age players. He also plays ice hockey, and enjoys reading history and historical fiction. John joined the W&M Libraries Board in the fall of 2014.
