"The curriculum in Military Science offers credits that can be applied toward an undergraduate degree from the College. Courses in Military Science also serve as the cornerstone of the United States Army’s Reserve Officer Training Corps (ROTC), the fundamental training program for the nation’s future military officers.

"The College of William and Mary has a long, proud tradition of training future military and civilian leaders. This rich history is recorded in the name of our ROTC unit, 'The Revolutionary Guard Battalion.'

"The Military Science Department offers courses for all students without requiring a commitment to future military service. Students who enroll in 100-level and 200-level courses, for example, study leadership, management, and the interactive dynamics of building teams. Students with previous military service or who have completed courses in another ROTC program may be granted placement credit for the freshman and sophomore classes.

"Studies in the program are rigorous. On completing the two- or four-year program requirements, students attain a commission in the United States Army in Active Duty, Reserve, and/or National Guard service. Please visit our scholarships page to learn how participating in ROTC can reduce the costs of obtaining an undergraduate degree from William and Mary."[1]

A Note About The Contents Of This Wiki
The information available in this wiki is the best available from known documents and sources at the time it was written. Unfortunately, many of the early original records of William & Mary were destroyed by fires, military occupation, and the normal effects of time. Information in this wiki is not complete as new information continues to be uncovered in Swem Library's Special Collections Research Center and elsewhere. Researchers are strongly encouraged to use the Special Collections search tools for their research as the information contained in this wiki is by no means comprehensive.
