James Monroe Prize in Civic Leadership
The James Monroe Prize in Civic Leadership is awarded on Charter Day at William & Mary. The award is given each year to a William and Mary student who best demostrates sustained leadership of an unusual quality - leadership combined with initiative, character, and an unfailing commitment to leveraging the assets of the College community to address the needs of society. The prize was established in 2005 by the Owens Foundation. The honorees receive a scholarship, a framed citation, and their names are added to a permanent plaque describing the award in the Sadler Center

The information available in this wiki is the best available from known documents and sources at the time it was written. Unfortunately, many of the early original records of William & Mary were destroyed by fires, military occupation, and the normal effects of time. Information in this wiki is not complete as new information continues to be uncovered in Swem Library's Special Collections Research Center and elsewhere. Researchers are strongly encouraged to use the Special Collections search tools for their research as the information contained in this wiki is by no means comprehensive. |
