Carrie Cooper was appointed Dean of University Libraries at William & Mary in August 2011. During her time with the university, she has overseen exciting renovations to the university’s main library, developed innovative faculty collaborations, and raised over $22 million for the campus libraries. Prior to coming to W&M, Carrie served as Dean of Libraries at Eastern Kentucky University. She previously served as the library's coordinator of research and instruction. Before joining EKU, she worked as an elementary school teacher and a high school librarian. A native of Florida, Carrie received her bachelor's degree in elementary education from Florida State University and her master's degree in library and information services from the University of Southern Mississippi. She is currently pursuing her doctoral degree in educational policy, planning and leadership at William & Mary. Carrie is the mother of twin boys. She enjoys spending time with them and their labradoodle, Ginger.
