Originally from north of Pittsburgh, Daneen holds a B.S. in chemistry from Allegheny College in Meadville, Pennsylvania. She joined W&M Libraries in September of 2022 after home educating her three children for 17 years. During that time, she also helped coordinate a homeschool group of 20 families. Prior to her work as a home educator, Daneen spent 13 years in the environmental field—as the quality assurance officer for an environmental laboratory and as a senior chemist for environmental consulting firms, performing risk assessments, site assessments, and data validation. She and her husband also owned and operated an independent retail business specializing in gifts, books—mostly historical, framed and unframed art prints, and home décor for nearly seven years. Daneen enjoys listening to audiobooks while walking her two miniature goldendoodles, playing board games, and spending time with her family.
