John M. Hunter

John joined the William & Mary Libraries leadership team in the spring of 2018.  Prior to coming on board, John worked in advancement at William & Mary for five years and most recently served as Associate Director of Regional Advancement on the Virginia team.  In that role he worked with alumni, parents, and friends of William & Mary in Central Virginia to raise support for all areas of the university. At the Libraries, John is focused on efforts to further the growing culture of engagement and philanthropy. In addition to his experience in development at William & Mary, John’s professional background includes work as a relationship manager in banking and as a history teacher at St. Christopher’s School in Richmond, VA. He holds a B.A. in history from Washington & Lee University and an M.A. in liberal arts from St. John’s College.   He lives in Richmond with his wife Lisa and their three sons.  Beyond work and family, John enjoys fitness, reading, and music.
