Introducing Daneen Resnick, Development Associate
In this post, we introduce W&M Libraries' new Development Associate, Daneen Resnick!
What does your job entail?
I will be providing support for all aspects of donor engagement, serving as liaison to the Board of Directors, managing donor stewardship activities, assisting with donor and alumni-focused special events and activities, and working with other staff members to coordinate appeal mailings and digital outreach.
What interests you most about this job?
Our family has always used libraries extensively, and I appreciate and am amazed by all the resources that libraries provide and the vital roles they play in the communities they serve. Being in a position that will help to advance the libraries at William & Mary is an exciting prospect for me!
What do you hope to accomplish in your first year?
My short-term goals include becoming familiar with the practices, procedures, and software I’ll be using for my role here. I also hope to meet and get to know many of my staff and student co-workers at the library. Long-term, I hope to learn as much as possible about the W&M libraries and use my skills to help achieve this year’s development goals.
Tell us a little about your work background:
With a B.S. in chemistry from Allegheny College, I worked in the environmental field for 13 years, as the quality assurance officer for an environmental laboratory and as a senior chemist performing risk assessments, site assessments, and data validation for environmental consulting firms. My husband and I also owned and operated a small retail business selling gifts, books (mostly historical), framed and unframed art prints, and home decor for several years. For the last 17 years, I was a home educator for my three children. Now that my youngest has graduated and is in college, I am excited to become part of the W&M community!
What attracted you to W&M?
I have lived in the Williamsburg area for 19 years and know many friends and neighbors who work at W&M; W&M has always seemed like a great place to work! It’s also close to home and has a beautiful campus, and the idea of working in a university setting really appeals to me.
What do you like to do in your free time?
I enjoy walking outdoors and taking my miniature goldendoodle, Gabby, out for long walks. Walking also gives me time to listen to audiobooks, another favorite pastime! (I’ve listened to about 90 books of all different genres so far this year!) I also enjoy watching movies at home, playing board/card games with friends when I have the opportunity, and spending time doing just about anything with my family.
