African American Women’s Histories is a digital resource that brings together the personal collections, professional papers and organizational records of trailblazing African American women from the Amistad Research Center, Fisk University John Hope and Aurelia E. Franklin Library, and the Dolph Briscoe Center for American History. Spanning 1897–2013, these collections illuminate the women’s intellectual work, social activism, cultural expression, professional achievements and everyday lives. Designed to support research in history, gender studies, cultural studies and related fields, the resource enables the exploration of individual narratives alongside broader themes of community building, creative expression and resistance.
