Our goal, especially with first-year students, is to cultivate transferable information literacy skills and dispositions -- based on the Association of College and Research Libraries (ACRL) Framework for Information Literacy in Higher Education -- while also preparing students to do the work you require of them. This practice aligns with the College’s stated purpose for the first-year COLL Curriculum courses. Before selecting a date (or dates) for bringing your class to the library, please take a moment to look over W&M Libraries’ Information Literacy Topics Menu. The items on the Menu are based on the Association of College and Research Libraries (ACRL) Framework for Information Literacy in Higher Education. They will guide the library class discussion and active learning exercises. If you have specific additional content or several topics that you would like covered by your librarian and/or archivist, multiple sessions may be needed.
