Work in the Time of Corona: Shayna Gutcho, Mosaic Fellow

By Shayna Gutcho - Mosaic Fellow

Our library staff members are chronicling their experiences living through a pandemic. If you keep a daily journal of your experience, consider donating it to Swem's Special Collections when the crisis has passed.

Name: Shayna Gutcho

Title: Mosaic Fellow

Department: Special Collections

How has your work changed during the pandemic?

Before the pandemic, I was generally working with the public. Now I have gone digital by working on libguides, doing A-space clean up, and informational blog posts - like this one!

What are your challenges?

I really miss seeing people in every capacity. I really miss daily indulgences such as going to the movies, leisurely walking around the grocery store, and strolling around the outlets. FaceTime and Zoom have done a great job supplementing seeing loved ones in person.

What has surprised you?

I have been impressed with how communities are coming together to support small businesses, especially in Williamsburg.

What do you miss most about being in the library?

I really miss seeing the student workers!

Anything else you'd like to share: My co-worker Audrey is not impressed with my selfie skills lol.
