William & Mary Libraries are pleased to provide funding to cover the registration costs for up to 5 faculty and graduate students interested in attending the Digital Humanities Summer Institute (DHSI) at the University of Victoria. DHSI provides an ideal environment for discussing and learning about new computing technologies and how they are influencing teaching, research, dissemination, creation, and preservation in different disciplines, via a community-based approach.
A time of intensive coursework, seminars, and lectures, participants at DHSI share ideas and methods, and develop expertise in using advanced technologies. Every summer, the institute brings together faculty, staff, and students from the Arts, Humanities, Social Sciences, Library, and Archives communities as well as independent scholars and participants from areas beyond.
Important Notes:
- Successful applicants will be awarded a code for free registration for ONE course. (A DHSI course runs daily for the duration of a week, so only one course can be taken at a time)
- The Institute offers courses for any skill level. “Foundations” courses are appropriate for those new to Digital Humanities, requiring only a basic knowledge of computing tools and methods. Some offerings have specific requisite skills and/or expectations and, in such cases, these are outlined in course description.
- Registration costs do not include travel expenses. Selected applicants will receive a code for free registration.
- DHSI takes place on the University of Victoria campus, and is offered via UVic's Electronic Textual Cultures Lab.
