Off Campus Access

The libraries have a proxy server that allows students, faculty and staff to access electronic resources from off campus. Most of our databases and links in the catalog are automatically configured to use the proxy so you can access them when you're not on the main W&M campus.

Blackboard

If you need to embed a link to a library resource in Blackboard, make sure the URL is prefixed with the address of the proxy server:

proxy.wm.edu/login?url=

For example, a link to JSTOR would look like: https://proxy.wm.edu/login?url=http://jstor.org. You can also use any of the links in our library database list

Having problems accessing materials off campus?

You may want to try accessing the database by using our list of databases and following the links there, and avoid using a previously bookmarked link. If you continue to have problems, please contact us or email libraries@wm.edu. Learn more about why we use a proxy server and why we use it in our proxy server guide.

If you're studying or working remote and need access to physical materials like books or DVDs, there are additional services available to remote users.
