Off Campus Access

The libraries have a proxy server that allows students, faculty and staff to access electronic resources from off campus. Most of our databases and links in the catalog are automatically configured to use the proxy so you can access them when you're not on the main W&M campus.

If you need to embed a link to a library resource in Blackboard, make sure the URL is prefixed with the address of the proxy server:

For example, a link to JSTOR would look like: You can also use any of the links in our library database list

Having problems accessing materials off campus?

Make sure the link you’re using has the proxy address in it. You may want to try accessing the database by using our list of databases and following the links there, and avoid using a previously bookmarked link.

If that is not the issue, try turning off the VPN and selecting the link again.  If you continue to have problems, please contact us or email
