New Film Databases

Published on

Journey around the world and through time!  Two new film databases acquired this past year will help you do just that.

Films on Demand has thousands of online educational films covering every discipline.  Learn about the blue water lilies found in King Tut's tomb.  Watch the Royal Opera House's production of Salome.   See World War I American soldiers playing baseball in England.  Many of the films have transcripts, and the database lets you create playlists of clips from the films.

Ethnographic Video Collection Online provides more than 800 streaming videos for the "visual study of human culture and behavior."  Learn about adolescents in Pittsburgh and in the Congo; life on coffee plantations in New Guinea; and the symbolism in Taiwanese flute music.  Transcripts accompany each film.
