Most intriguing item in Swem's Special Collections?

Published on

Last month Swem Library celebrated American Archives Month with our second annual Top 10 Contest, in which you voted for the item from Swem’s Special Collections you found most intriguing. And the item with the most votes is the 1694 boundary stone! View images of all the items in the contest on Special Collection’s Facebook page.

Three winners were selected – one from online voters, one from on-site and one grand prize student winner. This year’s winners are:

  • On-site: Lenny Vasquez
  • Online: Betsy Bell
  • Grand Prize Student Winner: Scott Klein

Voting was open to anyone and was conducted both on-site and online (at Facebook or Flickr). Winners received Swem Library gift packages. The grand prize student winner received a personal behind-the-scenes tour of Special Collections, coffee at the Mews Café and a Swem gift package.

American Archives Month is a collaborative effort by professional organizations and repositories around the nation to highlight the importance of records of enduring value. Archivists are professionals who assess, collect, organize, preserve, maintain control of, and provide access to information that has lasting value, and they help people find and understand the information they need in those records.
