Washington, DC trip: Interactive Teaching Spaces

On Friday, March 23 W&M Libraries and the Provost’s Office are co-hosting a trip to Washington, D.C. The purpose is threefold: 1) to explore together innovations in academic work space design, 2) develop and strengthen relationships between faculty and librarians and other teaching/learning partners, and 3) explore opportunities and resources available through the W&M Washington Center. Participants in the day-long experience will constitute a focus group for discussions about the faculty hub (named "Studio for Teaching and Research") envisioned for the ground floor of Swem Library.

This opportunity is only open to William & Mary faculty, staff and administrators.

Itinerary:

7:00 AM: Departure from Williamsburg (pick-up point Swem Library) 10:00 AM: Arrival in Reston, Ellucian - Tour of open design space fostering creativity and collaboration - Presentation by Herman Miller representatives about innovation in learning space design 12:30 PM: Lunch, Ellucian 1:30 PM: Depart Ellucian 2:00 PM: National Mall visit 5:00 PM: Depart National Mall for Washington Center 5:30 PM: Dinner Reception, W&M Washington Center 7:30 PM: Departure from Washington 10:30 PM: Anticipated arrival back on campus
