W&M Libraries is lucky to have many talented student employees. As a library student employee myself -- I am a Mosaic Diversity intern working in Swem Library's External Relations Office -- I decided to get to know miy fellow student assistants. I curated a list of questions asking students to reminisce on their childhood favorite books, give insight to their work at the library, and answer the heavily debated question of Coke vs. Pepsi.

Today's post will introduce Alexia Kaelber:

What is your year/grade? Sophomore

What is your major? Double Major in Psychology & Gender, Sexuality, and Women’s Studies

Hometown? Chesapeake, VA

What library department do you work in? Interlibrary Loan

What do you like most about working at the library? The fact that I can help people get access to the materials they need, definitely. Also, I love the friendly and egalitarian nature of the library and what it stands for.

What's your favorite spot to study at in Swem? The "basement" -- i.e. ground floor.

What was your favorite childhood book and why? The Sisters Grimm series, for its action, heart, and illustrations adding complexity & maturity to classic fairytale stories & characters.

What has been the best book you've read so far this year and why? A Little Life by Hanya Yanagihara, for its incredible study of trauma, love, and friendship. It was beautifully haunting and was an incredible experience to follow along with the lives of Jude and everyone who loves him.

Coke or Pepsi? Pepsi
