CeeCee in Swem's Makerspace with the MakerBot 3D printer.

Hello lovely people! My name is CeeCee and I’m a Student Associate in the Circulation department here at Swem. A bit about me: I’m a sophomore physics major with a passion for astronomy. My life goal is to get a Ph.D. in astronomy or astrophysics and become a professional astronomer. I’m super excited to be getting a taste of astronomy research this summer with my internship at the Harvard-Smithsonian Astrophysical Observatory!

I’ve worked in Swem since May of last year. I was hired for a temporary summer position where our goal was to clean the stacks. This meant taking a shop vacuum with a long hose and vacuuming the books and the shelves. It was hard work (SO MUCH DUST) and a long 10 weeks, but I loved the people I worked with and they must have liked me since they kept me for the academic year.

Now I work at the Circulation desk and in the Makerspace! Did you know we have four 3-D printers here in Swem? They’re awesome, and I get to work with them and teach people how to use them. (And occasionally I take them apart to figure out how to fix them.) I love working here--all of the staff, both full time and students, are incredible. I practically live in Swem between working and studying and drinking absurd amounts of tea from SwemAromas, but I totally love it.
