In Moby-Duck: The True Story of 28,800 Bath Toys Lost at Sea and of the Beachcombers, Oceanographers, Environmentalists, and Fools, Including the Author, Who Went in Search of Them, journalist Hohn sets out to discover what happened to 28,000 plastic animals that fell off a ship en route from China to Seattle in 1992. The review journal Booklist calls the author “like Bill Bryson on hard science, or John McPhee with attitude.” Part science, part travelogue, Moby-Duck fits in perfectly with the environmental themes of Earth Day.
