Richmond Theater Fire Book Talk

Rachel Beanland & Meredith Baker M.A. '07

On December 26, 1811, more than 70 Richmond residents, including the governor of Virginia, died when the Richmond Theater burned to the ground. At the time, it was the deadliest urban disaster in American history. This event has been revisited in "The House is on Fire" by Rachel Beanland and "The Richmond Theater Fire: Early America’s First Great Disaster" by Meredith Baker M.A. '07. They will discuss their books on Thursday, September 28.
