יא גֹוצן אזהר * קד מאל ואעתדל * מן חוסן קדך * // קד מאל
וכאן לי קריב * סמיע מוגִיב * מן יראה יקול חביבי
ואליום צאר יגֹיב * עני ויקול אחמל מוגיבי עאני **

قولي يا قمر * واش دوق اشوماييم الدي في خدك **
واش من {خد} الحيبار * الهندي العجيب ورش خدك *** / الهندي
يا غوصن ازهر * قد مال واعتدل * من حوسن قدك * // قد مال
وكان لي قريب * سميع موجيب * من يراه يقول حبيبي
واليوم صار يغيب * عني ويقول احمل موغيبي عاني **
ويقول احمل موغيبي ***
English Translation
Tell me, O moon, what are these beauty marks that are on your cheek!
What is this comely cheek? The wondrous Indian coveted your cheek.
O branch, the flower bowed and rose before the beauty of your form.
And I had one nearby, a listener who answers, whoever sees him would say “My love.”
Today he went and left me and says, “Carry my absent one.”
